A Nielsen poll has revealed the times on which different dating apps' user activity peaks and the inescapable finding is that most dating apps are a barren wasteland after 10pm.
According to the data, released on Thursday, Tinder user activity begins to peak about 6pm, increasing until 10pm, but dropping off dramatically after that.
In the hour after 9pm, 51.64 per cent of Tinder users are active. However, in the hour after 10pm, that number drops to 6 per cent.
Just 1 per cent of users are online at 1am.
In short, Tinder users are not likely to use the app as a lonely soul in bed, but rather while they are out doing other things, earlier in the evening.
It was a slightly different story for OKCupid users.
They were more likely to schedule their app use in a way that fit around traditional 9am to 5pm work, checking in early in the morning, and then before they went to bed at night.
"When we look at unique audience, we see that a larger percentage of all OkC users sign in both in the morning and night," Nielsen said in a statement. "On Tinder, the user's likelihood to check in between noon and midnight is mostly flat at about 40 per cent."
