Two women aged in their 70s are in hospital after their car crashed into a house in Carlingford this afternoon.
The impact of the crash caused the house, in Dalmar Place, to partially collapse onto the car.
A CareFlight spoksweoman said both women were trapped for up to an hour before being freed by emergency services at the scene. There were personnel from Fire and Rescue NSW, NSW Ambulance and NSW Police in attendance.
CareFlight's spokeswoman said CareFlight responded to the accident shortly after 2pm.
"CareFlight’s medical crew worked with paramedics to stabilise the women while trapped in the car," she said.
The women were freed about 3.15pm and medical crews initiated spinal precautions before transferring both women by road ambulance to Westmead Hospital.
"The passenger’s injuries include an open fracture to the right wrist, rib fractures and likely head injuries," CareFlight's spokeswoman said.
"She was accompanied by CareFlight’s emergency response doctor, who treated her en route to the hospital. She is described as being in a serious but stable condition."
The driver of the vehicle is in a stable condition with fractures to the ribs and sternum.
"CareFlight is unaware if any occupants of the house were home at the time of the incident," the service's spokeswoman said.
