Coming to Parramatta's Riverside Theatres this month, Encoded will mesmerise with technology and multimedia.
From one of Australia's pre-eminent physical theatre companies, Stalker Theatre, Encoded sees dancers performing both horizontally and vertically whilst interacting with a light display that responds to their every movement.
The performance is riveting with shimmering images that dissolve and reappear as the performers sweep across the stage.
Encoded uses 3D and video gaming technology, the aerial dance production blurs the line between the physical and digital space while redefining live performance.
Encoded director David Clarkson, who is also Stalker Theatre artistic director, was inspired to create a stage production using the talents of his nephew Sam Clarkson, a multi-award-winning video game and interactive designer.
"For Encoded I started out asking what happens if we mask space and architecture," David said.
"This led me to explore notions of the cultural perceptions of space — how our identity in the world around us has changed: from the renaissance to the industrial revolution and forwards into the creation of virtual space.
"What are we humans doing with space and what is space doing to us?"
Critics praised the production and use of dance, technology and interaction.
Lynne Lancaster, from the Sydney Arts Guide, writes: "Mesmerising and enthralling, Encodes is a powerful and hypnotic, at times almost trancelike work that combines fabulous contemporary dance, aerial acrobatics and the latest in computer images and technology."
Encoded is perfect for the whole family.
