Two bodies have been recovered from Tuggerah Lakes on the NSW central coast after an ultralight plane crash on Wednesday morning.
Emergency services have found the wreckage of the aircraft, which dived into the water about 400 metres offshore from Long Jetty about 7.45am on Wednesday.
Police divers recovered the bodies just after noon and have been brought ashore.
Because the water is exceptionally dirty and very difficult to see through, the divers were brought in from Sydney to search for survivors.
Stephen Leahy, chief executive of the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter, said the plane's wreckage had been found submerged in very muddy water, about 500 metres south of Picnic Point.
A NSW Police spokesman said emergency services were called to Tuggerah Parade after the plane crashed into the lake. Two helicopters joined the search for the pilot and passenger.
He said it was unclear where the ultralight had taken off from, or whether those on board were male or female.
A NSW Ambulance spokesman said the plane was submerged in about three metres of water.
Mr Leahy said initial reports suggested it may have been a hang-glider who plunged into the southern side of Tuggerah Lake.
