A trio of Winston Hills Little Athletics club athletes will look to put their best foot forward in international competition.

Runner Lachlan Wood, 12, jumper Audrey Nadaya-Harb, 11, and thrower Clare Grubba, 11, all qualified for the Pacific School Games in Adelaide after medalling at the NSW PSSA championships.

Baulkham Hills resident Lachlan claimed three gold medals in the 12 years boys 100m, 200m and 800m races.

“It was nice to know that I was one of the top people in the state,” he said.

“There was no one else in the state for my age group that could beat me. It just felt nice.”

With the Pacific School Games starting in less than a month, Lachlan is eager to see where he stands against international athletes from the local region.

“I’m looking forward to comparing my times to other countries,” he said.

“I also want to meet some new friends as well, I like that aspect of athletics.”

Audrey won gold in the high jump and bronze in the long jump at the state titles.

She finished with bronze in long jump last year but improved from fifth in high jump last year, setting new personal bests in both.

The Constitution Hill resident said she was looking forward to test herself with competitors from at least 15 different countries attending the event.

“I’m looking forward to competing against different countries and Australia as well,” she said. “It will be a really good experience.”

Baulkham Hills resident Clare won a bronze medal in the discus at NSW PSSA state championships.

“It was really cool to see all the girls who competed last year at state and it was really fun on the day,” she said.

“I wasn’t throwing my best that day but I managed to get in a good throw and ended up coming third.

“I’m excited to see what Adelaide looks like and see how good all the other girls are at the events.”

The Pacific School Games will run from December 3-9 in Adelaide.
