Four work mates from Orange travelled to Sydney on Friday for a night out in the western suburbs.

It started with a trip to a brothel and a BP service station for late-night snacks.

On Monday, it ended with one having his life support switched off in hospital and his close friend charged with offences relating to his death. Read more

The fugitive who was behind the terrorist attacks last week in Spain was shot by police officers Monday afternoon in a village about 20 miles west of Barcelona, police announced.

The fugitive, Younes Abouyaaqoub, 22, used a van to mow down a crowd on Las Ramblas, Barcelona's most famous boulevard, on Thursday afternoon, killing 13 people, according to police. He then stole a car, killed its driver and made his getaway, with the driver's body still inside. Read more via SMH

Hannah Rye, the brave teen who captured hearts by attending her school formal with NRL player Trent Hodkinson, has died.

The 15-year-old, who was suffering terminal cancer, died over the weekend.

Only a month ago she attended her Year 10 formal at Kurri Kurri High School in the Hunter Valley with Newcastle Knights player Hodkinson as her date.

This year's Vivid festival attracted a record 2.33 million visitors, with national and international visitors to the Sydney light show up by 35 per cent.

Launching the dates for next year's Vivid to the Japanese tourism industry in Tokyo, Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the world's largest light show would be 10 years old in 2018.
