Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Michelle Payne has tested positive to a banned substance and been stood down from racing pending the outcome of an inquiry.
Racing Victoria stewards will conduct an inquiry into the results of a urine sample provided by Payne at the Swan Hill Cup meeting on June 11.
Payne, the first female jockey to win the Melbourne Cup, tested positive to banned substance Phentermine, an appetite suppressant.
The substance is banned in accordance with Australian Rule of Racing 81B.
Ms Payne was advised of the Racing Analytical Services Limited's findings and stood down from riding in races and trackwork by stewards on June 23.
Ms Payne has been requested to attend the inquiry on Thursday which will be conducted at 11am at the Racing Victoria headquarters in Flemington.
If found guilty, the standard ban for testing positive to a suppressant like this is believed to be about one or two months.
