Food and fitness collide in Holroyd this weekend

Dumbbells, dabke dancing and dessert can be found all in one spot this weekend, when The Bearded Bakers come to town.

The popular Sydney food container, Knafeh, will bring their eponymous Middle Eastern treats to Holroyd’s Revolution X Performance Centre.

While the combination is admittedly an unconventional one, Knafeh’s director (and Papa Baker) Ameer “AJ” El-Issa is confident his team will show off the kind of energy that will impress both gym junkies, and dessert fans.

“From singing to dancing, a visit to Knafeh is always full of movement”, he says. “We sell an experience.”

Although the Bearded Bakers will show off their signature moves, including the current crowd favourite #DabkeChallenge (which sees bakers vertically dance up the side of the wall of the container), Rev X owner Rob Kastoun wouldn’t let them off without a real workout.

“We collaborated with Rob and his team to incorporate the container as part of training,” El-Issa said.

“The plan is to also turn it into an interactive obstacle course, that both our bakers and customers can use.”

So whether you’re a fitness fanatic or would prefer a sweet session to a sweat session, this weekend is the perfect opportunity to give both your muscles and your mouth a good workout.
