The community will get the chance to enjoy more use of public school spaces in the Parramatta LGA.
A proposed Memorandum of Understanding between Parramatta Council and the NSW Department of Education was adopted this week to facilitate the shared use of government school facilities by the community. The agreement will formalise several informal arrangements already in place.
Recent research confirmed a lack of community and recreation facilities and open space to meet current and future population needs. Many of the 45 government schools in the LGA have quality, well-located facilities often underutilised outside of school hours.
“It’s the policy of the NSW government to find ways in which these facilities cane be better utilised,” council administrator Amanda Chadwick said. “This is a fantastic initiative in that direction.”
