The final stage of the controversial WestConnex project is up for public feedback.
The M4-M5 Link is the third stage of the multi-billion dollar motorway, which is due for completion in 2023. It would connect the M4 at Haberfield and the M5 at St Peters to create a non-stop underground western bypass of the Sydney CBD.
The nine-kilometre underground tunnel is expected to cost about $7 billion and, as with each stage of the ambitious project, has attracted a mixed response.
City of Sydney mayor Clover Moore has objected to the third stage and presented alternatives to Premier Gladys Berejiklian, according to an ABC report. The council estimated WestConnex would cost about $45 billion in its current form.
Riverstone MP Kevin Conolly has urged the community to look at the concept (above) and submit feedback.
There will be community information sessions in Camperdown, Leichhardt, Newtown, Balmain and Haberfield between May 25 and June 7.
