Western Sydney Local Health District is celebrating the contribution and role of its wonderful midwives, as it marks International Midwives Day 2017 on May 5.

International Midwives Day was established by the International Confederation of Midwives following discussions among midwives associations in the late 1980s. It was formally launched in 1992.

The theme for 2017 is “Midwives, Mothers and Families: Partners for Life!”

This week, proud parents Kylie Bracken and Chris Fortuin welcomed their third bundle of joy at Blacktown Hospital. Their baby Madison was showered with love from midwives Daisy, Emma, Gina and Karla.

Madison is one of 1,073 babies born at Blacktown Hospital in 2017 so far.

Happy International Midwives Day!
