Man caught driving double speed limit in Merrylands

INFRINGEMENT: A man, 18, has been issued an infringement noticed after he was detected on a police radar driving 80km/hr over the speed limit in Merrylands.

A provisional driver has had his licence suspended after he was caught speeding in Merrylands. 

The Lidcombe man, 18, was stopped on the M4 Motorway after he was detected travelling 80km/hr over the speed limit on Tuesday, April 18.

The driver was issued an over 45km/hr penalty notice which carries a fine of $2350 and penalty of six demerit points. 

His provisional licence was suspended on the spot for six months. 

 A second man was also given an infringement notice after he was caught speeding in Merrylands West.

The Granville man, 31, was detected driving at 119km/hr on the Cumberland Highway in a 70km/hr speed zone at about 12.10am on Tuesday, April 18.

The driver, who was travelling with his wife and daughter, was stopped by police and issued an over 45km/hr penalty notice. 

The infringement carries a fine of $2350 and penalty of six demerit points.
