PARRAMATTA Eels fans in The Hills region will have access to a new service that will offer supporters a free ride to and from home games at ANZ Stadium.

Eels members and people with pre-purchased game tickets can get on buses from Rouse Hill, Castle Hill and Dural that will take them to and from Sydney Olympic Park.

Parramatta Eels chief executive Bernie Gurr said the Eels Express service was a way to make it easier for fans to get to their interim home stadium.

The club is playing all their Sydney-based home games at ANZ Stadium while it waits for the new Western Sydney Stadium in Parramatta to be built.

“Our members and fans are the lifeblood of our club, they continue to support us and show up in droves to our games and so we want to ensure we look after them and make the transition to ANZ Stadium over the next two years as easy as possible,” Mr Gurr said.

“We also acknowledge the financial burden travelling to and from sporting events can have on families. This investment from our club is intended to lighten the cost burden for our members and fans and ensure our great game is accessible to all.”

Services will begin approximately one hour before gates open through to half an hour after each home game.

Parramatta play reigning champions Cronulla at 7pm Saturday at ANZ Stadium. The Eels Express services will begin around 3.40pm.

AFL club Sydney Swans used to run a chartered bus service from The Hills to the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), but cancelled it in 2015 due to a lack of demand.
