Police have found a man missing from a nursing home on Sydney's north shore after mounting a large-scale search on Friday night.
Raymond Spackman, 73, was last seen at 2pm on Friday when he walked away from an aged care home on Greenwich Road in Greenwich.
He was found at around 9.20pm.
Residents in Greenwich, Wollstonecraft, Waverton and surrounding suburbs reported hearing the police helicopter PolAir hovering above the suburbs and broadcasting a message at around 8.30pm on Friday.
An announcement on loudspeaker advised residents that police were searching for the 73-year-old, who was last seen wearing a long-sleeved shirt, grey tracksuit pants, a blue cap and reading glasses.
The helicopter circled over the suburbs for half an hour, leaving just before 9pm.
It appeared to focus on local parks and reserves as it circled the surrounds of the nursing home.
Residents also reported hearing sirens in the area.
Local police, the dog squad and officers from the Marine Area Command were involved in the search.
In a statement, NSW Police said Mr Spackman was found "safe and well".
