More than 25,000 will flock to Parramatta Park this Sunday to celebrate Deepavali, one of Sydney’s biggest multicultural events.
Presented by the Hindu Council of Australia, Deepavali celebrates the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance and a renewed commitment to friendship, religious tolerance and spreading the word of peace and harmony.
Parramatta Park’s Cattle Paddocks will be transformed into a multicultural hub with Indian food and market stalls, traditional and cultural performances, chef cooking competition, Rangoli artworks, henna tattoo makers, dance competition, virtual reality experiences, rides, a photo booth, roving entertainers dressed up as characters from Indian folklore, mythology and fireworks.
- This Sunday, 11am-9pm. Admission is $5. Details: deepavali.com.au.
