Foodies will once again take over Parramatta’s CBD for the next two nights when Crave Sydney International Food Festival events return to the city’s laneways.
Parramatta Lord Mayor John Chedid said Parramatta lanes was about revitalising the city’s hidden spaces.
‘‘Parramatta lanes is an opportunity for people to discover the city’s hidden lanes network and capture the imagination of creative industries keen to get a foothold in our emerging lanes culture,’’ he said.
‘‘There has been a noticeable shift in the development of our urban landscape and we’ve already experienced extraordinary success with our existing laneway cafés that focus on high quality products in a casual and creative setting.
‘‘The city’s urban landscape is undergoing a major transformation. Revitalising these small spaces will breathe new life into undiscovered areas and bring visitors to the city, during the day and night.’’High-profile chefs and and businesses have been brought to Parramatta for the event.
Sydney establishment Grasshopper will host a cocktail bar at Erby Place, and Mike Eggert and Jemma Whiteman’s Pinbone will provide a sample of tasty dishes in Darcy Lane.
Darcy Lane will become an eclectic outdoor street food venue and Red Cow Lane will feature a rolling picture show installation.
Batman Walk will be a Parisienne-inspired space and Erby Place will be transformed into an Asian garden under the Jacaranda trees.
The lanes open from 4pm until 9pm.
