Guildford home gutted by flames

Guildford residents have saved a man from a fire as a neighbouring house was gutted by flames overnight.

Police said they were investigating the cause of the fire, which destroyed one home in Rawson Street.

Neighbours called emergency services after they saw the home on fire about 11.20pm, yesterday, police said.

Then as the adjacent home caught fire, neighbours ran inside to wake a sleeping male resident.

Firefighters arrived and extinguished the flames but the single-storey weatherboard home, which was empty at the time of the fire, was destroyed.

Investigators will examine the scene today to determine the cause of the blaze.

Anyone with information about this incident should call Crime Stoppers on 1800333000.
