Harvest festival announces artist line-up

Parramatta’s biggest music and arts festival Harvest is just weeks away and promoters have announced a huge line-up of artists to join international musicians Beck, Sigur Ros and Mike Patton’s Mondo Cane.

More than 400 artists working on 80 acts and installations will test the metal of revellers.

A venue called Bootleg Alley has been described by promoters as an ‘‘upside-down landscape of guilty pleasures and lost innocence’’.

Australian circus-vaudeville troupe Briefs will play the alley, along with neo-cabaret electro-pop act Bourgeois & Maurice and multi-award winning Coney Island burlesque stars Trixie Little & Evil Hate Monkey.

The festival will also be home to a Secret Garden Stage, where kick back spoken word artists Erotic Fan Fiction, Aindrias de Staic and The Mighty Nineties Power Hour will perform.

There is also the Cheerypicker Stage and La Toosh Tram, where more vaudeville and circus acts will be found.

More than 11,000 people attended the 2011 Harvest Festival and promoters said they expected more at the 2012 event in Parramatta Park.

Promoter Declan Forde said the park had proven to be the perfect home for the festival.

‘‘Mostly because of the beauty of the site itself,’’ he said.

Harvest is on November 17.
