Crack down on drunks in Parramatta CBD

Parramatta police have said they are cracking down on alcohol-related violence and anti-social behaviour after making a number of arrests over the weekend.

A 22-year-old woman was detained on Sunday night after officers found her in a ‘‘heavily intoxicated’’ state, police said.

The woman is alleged to have abused officers when they approached her and she was kept in a cell at the police station overnight, police said.

Police allege a 31-year-old man refused to submit to a random breath test by police in Horwood Place, later that night.

He was arrested and at Parramatta station refused to undertake a breath analysis for a second time, police said.

His license was suspended and a court date was set by police.

Police said they were then called to intervene after a 20-year-old woman was refused entry to a club and began ‘‘causing trouble’’.

She was issued with a $550 infringement notice for failing to leave licensed premises.

As the sun was rising about 5am, police returned to the hotel when a 21-year-old man refused to leave after being denied entry due to his intoxication.

He will appear before Parramatta Local Court on a charge of failing to quit licensed premises, and faces a possible fine of $5000.
