Parra turns Japanese, with all eyes on Jackman

Four blocks of Parramatta's city centre were transformed into a downtown Japanese city as Hugh Jackman was spotted filming for the action movie The Wolverine on the weekend.

No props were spared in yesterday's filming to make sure Parramatta appeared truly Japanese, including signs on bus stops, street signs, corporate logos on buildings, Japanese car number plates and plenty of Japanese extras.

Crowds of interested onlookers gathered on the corners of Smith and George streets to try to catch a glimpse of lead actor Jackman.

Although if you blinked, it was easy to miss the superhero. Jackman had a stunt double regularly trading places with him as his crew organised lighting.

But fans will have to wait until July 25 next year to catch all the action on the big screen.

In the sixth instalment of the X-Men film series and the stand-alone sequel to the 2009 film X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the character Wolverine travels to Japan to train with a samurai warrior.
