Safety fears after two women assaulted in Wentworthville

Police have warned women in Wentworthville to be vigilant after two indecent assaults in the area in a week.

A 24-year-old woman was indecently assaulted in Wentworthville on Friday night and police believe the attack may be related to another similar assault earlier in the week.

The woman told police that a man approached her and performed a lewd act in front of her as she walked through Lane Street, Wentworthville, about 10.40am.

The offender then indecently assaulted the woman, police said..

The suspect was described as being of Indian/Sub-Continental appearance, aged in his mid to late 20s, about 170 centimetres tall, with medium build, and black hair.

He was wearing a hooded jumper with white and black stripes, black shorts and white joggers.

Detectives are also investigating whether the incident is linked to another indecent assault in Wentworthville earlier this week.

About 3pm on Monday, October 8, a 19-year-old woman was grabbed from behind as she walked along Smith Street.

The man exposed himself to the woman, who was with her three young children, before pushing her to the ground and indecently assaulting her.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed either incident, or any similar or suspicious behaviour in the area, to contact Holroyd detectives or Crime Stoppers on 1800th333th000.
