How the Opal card is failing commuters

The Opal card, now used almost ubiquitously across Sydney's transport system, has for the most part been a great success. Queues for tickets at train stations on Monday mornings have been eliminated as promised. At many stations, with staff no longer sitting behind windows selling tickets, employees on platforms and in common areas are noticeably more visible and helpful. There remain occasional hiccups with the technology. But by and large Sydney is a better place to get around now that you can tap on and off with an Opal. The technology has simplified the travelling experience.
