Police are appealing for the public’s help after a woman was assaulted by a man in Wentworthville yesterday.
The 19-year-old woman was walking east along Smith Street, Wentworthville, with three young children about 3pm yesterday, Monday, October 8.
As she neared the intersection of the Cumberland Highway, a man grabbed her from behind and attempted to drag her to a nearby stormwater drain.
The man exposed himself and pushed the woman to the ground before indecently assaulting her.
He then fled west on Smith Street, before heading north along Una Street, Wentworthville.
The children were not physically harmed during the incident.
Officers from Holroyd police commenced an investigation and conducted a canvass of the surrounding area, however the man was not located.
Police would like to speak with a man described as being of Middle Eastern/Mediterranean appearance and aged in his early 20s, about 160 centimetres tall with a skinny build, black hair and was clean shaven.
At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black t-shirt and black three-quarter length pants.
