Waller continues strong start to spring campaign

Chris Waller once again showed why he has been crowned Sydney’s best trainer the last two years.

Saturday’s race meet at Randwick included four group 1, two group 2, one group 3 and two listed races.

Last weekend the Rosehill-based trainer claimed the  group 3 Alea — Colin Stephen Quality with Kelinni at Rosehill Gardens.

And just seven days later the the gelding backed up to finish second in the  group 1 McGrath - Metropolitan Stakes.

Waller had to wait until race eight to have his first top three finish for the day.

In the ninth and final race Red Tracer delivered the trainer his first win for the day in the group 3 Styletread Premiere Stakes.

The win also saw jockey Nash Rawiller finish the meet on a high after a frustrating day in which he recorded three seconds.

Another Rosehill-based trainer Gerald Ryan claimed third with I’m No Phony in the listed NSW Thoroughbred Breeders Plate.
