TELOPEA residents have won Parramatta Council's annual Spring Garden Competition for the third time.
The competition recognises the efforts of businesses and residents who have created the best and most sustainable gardens in the Parramatta area.
George and Danae Christodoulou from Telopea, won residential best floral garden.
"We've been looking after our garden for the last 40 to 45 years," Mrs Christodoulou said. "It is what we live for."
Mrs Christodoulou and her husband said they still get excited when they win a prize because it shows to other people how much gardening means to them.
Even though the Christodoulous' have thousands of plants in their garden, they don't spend a lot of time working in it each day. This is because they have created a sustainable garden that has matured over the years.
"We use all of our cuttings and prunings as compost for the plants," Mrs Christodoulou said. "That's why we don't need lots of water."
Mrs Christodoulou said that her garden hasn't cost a lot to grow and manage.
"We do everything ourselves and we have never bought any of our plants," she said.
