Merrylands High students celebrate school's end

Year 12 students at Merrylands High School said farewell to the school this morning as their secondary education drew to a close.

The Higher School Certificate will begin on October 15 with the first of two English exams.

But this morning students put exam thoughts to one side as they celebrated the end of an era.

Student Allen Amin had mixed emotions.

‘‘It’s a bittersweet feeling really,’’ he said.

‘‘I’m excited about pursuing my dreams for the future but I’m going to miss these people and the teachers.’’

For year 11 student Brittany Buhagiar, the morning marked the next chapter in her schooling life.

‘‘There’s a lot of new rules and responsibilities but I’m excited about it,’’ she said.
