Bumper turn out at Holroyd's Pet Fest

MORE than 5000 people had a barking good time at Holroyd Gardens yesterday.

Highlights of this year’s Holroyd PetFest included Jack Russell races and a talk by former Totally Wild presenter and veterinarian Katrina Warren.

Bird lovers also flocked to Don Burke’s stall.

The famous former TV presenter is president of the Miniature Budgerigars Society.

‘‘PetFest is all about promoting responsible pet ownership, and creating awareness in animal rescue,’’ a spokeswoman for event host Holroyd Council said.

She said visitors got to speak with dog trainers, vets, breeders, animal welfare groups and groomers.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to animal rescue and education in Holroyd City.
