American tennis player Coco Vandeweghe has had an eventful few days at the US Open in Flushing Meadows, New York.
On Monday (Tuesday morning AEST), Vandeweghe was interviewed on-court mid-match for the first time in broadcast history, but outdid herself two days later.
Five games down to fellow American Bethanie Mattek-Sands in their second-round clash, Vandeweghe took her racquet to task, furiously pounding it into the ground.
Having rendered the piece of equipment useless with two impressive smashes, the crowd reacted with delight. Her response? Vandeweghe soaked up the applause, before driving the racquet into the floor one more time for good measure.
A refreshed and regathered Vandeweghe took the next two games, before Mattek-Sands' 6-2, 6-1 rampage saw her off.
