Bottle shops are being warned not to sell alcohol to under 18s, after a school-holiday crackdown.
The Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing targeted bottle shops in northern and western Sydney and found three stores to be selling alcohol to minors.
About 42 bottle shops were checked for compliance with liquor laws. Breaches were detected during the operation.
The state office’s director of compliance and enforcement, Anthony Keon, says the crackdown comes as a timely reminded for bottle shop owners.
‘‘The law couldn’t be any clearer. Selling alcohol to minors is illegal, no exceptions,’’ Mr Keon said.
‘‘Any venue that can’t comply with this basic requirement will face strict sanctions.’’
