Parramatta City Titans Junior Rugby League Club want to spread the word about their newest team.
The Titans have recently started a program called Try Time, which is aimed at kids with special needs.
Tony Bainou, who has years of coaching experience behind him, has taken eight-year-old Ayoub Elfata and five-year-old Kassem Farhat under his wing and is teaching them how to play rugby league.
The two boys, who both have Down syndrome, are developing their skills with Bainou, who teaches them one-on-one during weekly training sessions.
Ayoub Elfata is part of a large family from the Liverpool area, and has watched all of his brothers playing rugby league, but until now, he had not had the chance to play as well.
His mother, Rowayda, said she feels there is a real lack of social activities available for kids with special needs, so she has been very happy to see the Parramatta City Titans jump on board.
The Wentworthville Magpies were the first club in the Parramatta competition to implement the program and the Titans are hoping they continue to grow.
"We want to get the word out there, so we can build numbers and eventually we might be able to have enough that we could play a game against Wenty," club president Andrew Maroun said.
"It will take a bit of time, and we haven't actively promoted it yet, but we've seen the rewards and thought it was a good idea.
"To get them involved in a competition is the long-term goal, even if it's with teams from outside this district."
Taking on the coaching job has been an eye-opening experience for Tony Bainou.
"It's very rewarding for me, but it's more for the kids, it's always about the kids," he said.
"You enjoy it, you have a laugh with them, it's good fun and I'd definitely encourage kids to give it a go."
