Four new tenants have signed up at the 51-level Bourke Place tower soaking up some of the space soon to be vacated by legal firm, Corrs.
Corrs is poised to move into 8800 square metres of Leighton's new building at 567 Collins Street which is expected to reach practical completion this month. The move leaves Bourke Place with about 11,000 square metres of empty space.
AMP Capital and Brookfield, the owners of the tower at 600 Bourke Street, have spent $35 million refurbishing the building in the past 18 months and signed 9100 square metres worth of new deals and leasing renewals in the past six months.
Engineers Australia have signed up to 2300 square metres on levels 30 and 31 on a ten year lease, while property research firm m3 is taking 645 square metres on level 29, also for 10 years.
On level 20, Liberty International Underwriters is leasing a 545 square metre space for six years and Brookfield Global Integrated Solutions is renting 324 square metres on level 17.
Agents CBRE and JLL brokered the deals but declined to comment. While rentals were not disclosed, the space is believed to be leased at between $450-to-$600 a square metre.
The 62,800 square metre tower is a block from Southern Cross station on the King Street corner.
Other tenants in the tower include, King & Wood Mallesons, Gadens Lawyers, Lander & Rogers, BankWest and the Bank of Tokyo.
The refurbishment, which is taking place as space becomes vacant, has been undertaken by Gray Puksand and includes new lifts, bathrooms and end-of-trip facilities. A major upgrade of the retail precinct will take place this year.
