A man who was forced to the ground during a raid in connection to a fatal shooting at Punchbowl has described the experience as "pretty hectic".
More than two dozen heavily armed police stormed into a Wiley Park house on Tuesday afternoon following the death of body builder Hedi Ayoub the previous day.
Bill, a resident of the home, said he felt as though he had seen a ghost when police cocked their rifles and screamed at him and his brother-in-law to get on the ground.
"It was pretty hectic. We were in the driveway coming out of the house and yeah, they pulled out all the guns on us and [they said] "get on the floor".
"It was like I've seen a ghost, what's going on? They said, 'Drop everything out of your hand'."
He told Fairfax Media he had no idea why police were searching the Renown Avenue house.
The property is owned by his relatives and he said none of his family had heard of Mr Ayoub, who was gunned down in a nearby children's playground about 4.35pm on Monday afternoon.
"The police walked us down the street because they wanted to secure the house," he said.
"They are doing room by room [searches] at the moment just to search whatever they can find."
He said no one had been arrested and police had been searching the red brick house since about 2.30pm.
Up to a dozen police, including public order and riot squad officers, remained at the house about 7pm.
The raid comes just hours after the family of Mr Ayoub arrived at Glebe Coroner's Court, begging for answers into his death.
It is believed Mr Ayoub was deliberately targeted and officers were searching for a blue 4WD seen leaving Salmon Reserve shortly after a number of shots were fired, police said.
