An 89-year-old man has died after being hit by a truck while walking his dog in Merrylands.
Emergency services were called to Woodville Road, shortly before 9.30am today, Sunday, September 9 the elderly man was hit by a small southbound truck.
The 89-year-old was struck while crossing the road with his dog.
NSW Ambulance Paramedics and police officers treated the man at the scene before he was taken to Westmead Hospital.
He died a short time later.
Rosehill police established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation into the incident.
The male truck driver is assisting police and will be taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.
Investigators are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or the events leading up to it, who hasn’t already spoken to police to call Rosehill Police or Crime Stoppers.
