Teenager charged after car break-ins

A teenager has been arrested and charged after a large number of cars were broken into in Guildford earlier in the week.

Between 3:30am and 4am on Tuesday, September 4, a 15-year-old boy allegedly forced entry into 34 cars in the basement car park of unit complexes on Railway Terrace and Mountford Avenue.

The teenager and his male accomplice allegedly smashed the windows of the cars and rummaged through their contents before stealing an amount of cash and jewellery.

Yesterday afternoon Wednesday September 5, the 15-year-old boy was arrested by officers attached to Holroyd Proactive Crime Team.

He was taken to Merrylands Police Station and charged with nine counts of larceny, 25 counts of attempted larceny and four arrest warrants.

He was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Children’s Court today, Thursday, September 6.

Investigations into the thefts are continuing with police attempting to locate the second man allegedly involved in the incidents.
