Sydney Writers’ Festival artistic director Jemma Birrell revealed a stellar line-up of Australian and international best-selling writers for the festival’s western Sydney program.
During the launch, at the University of Western Sydney on March 25, Ms Birrell confirmed that for the first time events taking taking place in the festival hub in Sydney’s Walsh Bay precinct will be livestreamed to Parramatta Library for free.
“The west is an integral part of the Sydney Writers’ Festival program and it is always strongly supported by local audiences,’’ she said.
‘‘I’m delighted to present this rich and varied list of events in western Sydney, which showcases our headlining Australian, international and children’s authors.”
Crime fiction writer Michael Connelly will be at Parramatta’s Riverside Theatre on May 23 talking about his gripping creation Detective Harry Bosch — now the star of an acclaimed TV series.
Riverside Theatre, Andy Griffiths — one half of the duo behind Australia’s highest selling book of 2014, The 52-Storey Treehouse — will entertain his tiny fans with his wild treehouse tales on May 22.
Also at the Parramatta theatres that day will be social demographer Hugh Mackay, who will explore the issue of community belonging and its effect on our wellbeing.
Australian novelist Liane Moriarty will be at Penrith City Library on May 20 discussing big and little lies, the subject of her New York Times bestselling novel Big Little Lies.
Writer-spouses Graeme Simsion (writer of The Rosie Project) and Anne Buist (Medea’s Curse) will talk life, marriage and writing at the Camden Civic Centre on May 21.
