What does an injured Australian Test captain do while he recovers from surgery? Live tweet on the cricket from bed to his almost 1 million followers. And Michael Clarke's not bad at it, either. A candid Clarke offered his views on tactics, dodgy umpiring decisions and even weighed into medical issues, accurately diagnosing Mitchell Marsh's hamstring injury. Clarke started tweeting at the start of the second session, offering encouragement to the team and an update on his hamstring surgery, saying it went "really well". "A few days of rest and recover and watch the boys play well from my bed," Clarke tweeted. He responded to one follower who asked him what he would be doing if he was still out on the field. "I like Lyon from one end, rotate the quicks from the other," Clarke wrote. Smith followed course several overs later. For the record, Clarke thought Smith was "doing a very good job". On Cheteshwar Pujara being fired out caught behind off the helmet grille, Clarke tweeted: "Not a great decision that one." When Mitchell Marsh limped off the field, Clarke asked: "Hamstring?" Several minutes later Cricket Australia confirmed Marsh was having his right hamstring assessed. It could be just a matter of time before Channel Nine comes knocking on Clarke's door.
