WHEN it comes to kitchens, laminate, timber and polyurethane are the materials that spring to mind.
But kitchen company The Nest 45 plans to start a revolution in Australian kitchen design.
Materials used in the company's kitchens ranged from cement resin and porcelain sheeting to natural stones, treated metals and oiled and stained timbers.
The Nest 45 director Gregor Scott said one of the most popular finishes in the range was Cemento, a new resin technology that allowed all surfaces to be coated in a 3mm liquid cement layer.
"As with natural cement, Cemento exhibits that unmistakably industrial look with a high degree of texture and imperfections, yet is a very functional, practical finish for a high traffic area such as the kitchen.
"Kerlite is a lightweight porcelain slab that is lighter than aluminium and more durable than stone.
"It is multilayered to create a sleek one centimetre panel that can be used for benches, sinks, drawers and doors.
