Wildcats scorched by Comets

Parramatta Basketball Association fans had the final chance to see their senior teams in action on Saturday night at the Auburn Basketball Centre, in the penultimate round of the 2012 Waratah Championship League (WCL) season.

The local association hosted the Sydney City Comets men's and women's teams and could not prevent a double whitewash, losing the women's game 86-30 and the men's game 93-79.

The women's game proved to be an absolute walkover and the only bright spots for the home team would be a 13-point effort from Josie Taoi and a 12-rebound haul from rookie Laura Anderson.

Parramatta's men's team made an effort in the second game of the night, leading the visitors through the opening two quarters (17-14 and 41-34 respectively), before the Comets surged in the third quarter to lead 66-64 at the final break in play.

Rory Sutton and Tyrone Davey both fouled out of the game for the Wildcats during the second half and their loss would help the Comets continue their late-game barrage, as the visitors surged home to a 14-point win.

The Wildcats end their season away from home next Saturday night, facing up to the strong Northern Suburbs Bears at the Northern Suburbs Indoor Sports Centre, Crows Nest. Women tip off at 4pm, men at 6pm.

WOMEN: Sydney City Comets 80 def Parramatta Wildcats 30 (Josie Taoi 13 points, Laura Anderson 12 boards).

MEN: Sydney City Comets 93 (Michael Seckold 38 points, Tom Dawson 19 points, 11 boards; Sam Hyman 16 points; Obi Kyei 10 points, 11 boards) def Parramatta Wildcats 79 (Adi Causevic 23 points; Goran Veg 17 points, 10 boards, 3 blocked shots; Jed Atherton 11 points, 9 boards).
