Weather was against Parramatta shooter Warren Potent at Olympics

Fourth-time Olympian Warren Potent failed to make the final of the 50-metre prone shooting event at the London Olympics on Friday.

The former Greystanes High School student scored 591 to place 32nd in the event, more than 24 years after winning his first world title.

Parramatta-born Potent, 50, told the Australian Olympic Team website he wasn't able to recover from a poor start.

“I shoot my best when it is windy but it was really still to start and I don’t normally shoot so well then,” he said.

Potent carried his world best form into his third Olympic Games in Beijing where he snared a bronze after scoring 700.5 in the 50-metre prone.

He placed 13th in the same event at the 2012 London World Cup.
