PARRAMATTA’S fountain bridge will attract people to the river foreshore, lord mayor Lorraine Wearne said at its official launch.
Councillor Wearne opened Australia’s first fountain bridge — on the Barry Wilde Bridge — on Friday.

As the fountain lit the banks of Parramatta River, Richard James, of Castle Hill, said he was impressed.
‘‘I think it’s fantastic,’’ he said.
‘‘It adds a cultural attraction that will bring people down here.
"I think it gives people something to come and sit around and watch.’’
Cr Wearne said the fountain would soon be a feature surrounded by new developments.
