Police investigate shooting at Old Guildford

Police are investigating a shooting at Old Guildford yesterday afternoon.

Officers from Fairfield police attended Broughton Street following reports of a shooting about 4.55pm, Saturday, July 21.

Police have been told two males fired a number of shots towards a house.

One bullet entered the window of a bedroom striking a 35-year-old woman.

She sustained grazing to her lower back and was treated at the scene by paramedics and did not require hospitalisation.

Her three children, who were inside the house at the time, were not injured during the incident.

Two other houses were also struck by bullets with one bullet hitting a fence and another bullet lodging in the front of a house.

A crime scene was established in Broughton Street and examined by specialist forensic officers.

Fairfield detectives and officers attached to Operation Spartan are continuing their investigations into the shooting and are speaking with local residents.

While investigations into the shooting are continuing police do not believe it was a random incident and they are now attempting to establish a motive for the attack.
