Brawl and shooting in Parramatta CBD

Police are investigating two violent incidents, which happened in the Parramatta CBD on Friday night, which they say are related, one of which involved gun shots.

Officers were alerted to a confrontation between security at the Albion hotel, on Harris Street and a group of men about 11.15pm yesterday, July 13.

The men became aggressive when they were refused entry to the hotel and the melee spilled onto George Street.

Shortly after 1am today, July 14, two men were seen on Harris Street, one holding a sword, the other a handgun.

Witnesses told police the second man fired one or two shots into the air and one into the ground before they ran to a nearby reserve.

Police returned to the scene and located two spent shell casings near the carpark.

There have been no reports of injury or damage.

Officers attached to Strike Force Raptor and Operation Spartan were informed of the incident as per procedure.

Police believe the incidents are linked and are continuing their investigations.
