Man injured in Parramatta "glassing" incident

A 22-year-old man was hit over the head with a beer bottle during a wedding reception at a Parramatta restaurant yesterday.

Police said the man was attacked about 6.30pm yesterday, Saturday, June 2.

They said the male offender then tried to stab the victim in the chest with the broken bottle.

He then fled the scene.

Parramatta policeattended the Chinese restaurant, located within a major George Street shopping centre, and commenced inquiries.

The injured man was taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment.

Detectives spoke with a number of witnesses to the incident, while specialist forensics officers examined the crime scene.

Investigations are continuing in a bid to identify and locate the offender.

No arrests have been made at this stage and inquiries are continuing.
