Parramatta crash causes delays

AN accident in Northmead this afternoon held up traffic into Parramatta for almost an hour, causing major delays.

An Ambulance NSW spokesman said there were no serious injuries in the accident and no-one required hospital treatment.

About 1.45pm, two cars collided at the intersection of Briens and Redbank Roads and initially blocked two east-bound lanes.

Tow-trucks and emergency services arrived about 10 minutes later and cleared one lane but traffic had backed-up for several kilometres around Old Windsor Road and along the Cumberland Highway.

Police said the accident was cleared by 3pm.
