Man charged over Merrylands shooting

A 30-year-old man has been charged after a shooting in Merrylands on Saturday

Police were called to a house on Zillah Street about 2.45pm on Saturday, May 19, following reports a man had been injured.

A 34-year-old man was treated at the scene for gunshot wounds before being taken to hospital.

He is still in hospital in a stable condition and is being treated for injuries to his chest and thigh.

Officers arrested the 30-year-old man at a restaurant on Phillip Street, Parramatta about 11.10pm on Saturday.

He was charged with shooting a weapon with the intent to murder and appeared in court later yesterday, Sunday, May 20 and was refused bail.

Police searched his house in Auburn and seized a number of items.

Investigators ask anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the vicinity of Zillah Street to come forward.
