A planning panel approved a 19 storey commercial and residential development for Parramatta today.
The Sydney West Region Regional Planning Panel approved two towers worth more than $76 million after making a few small changes to the plans today.
The buildings will include 264 residential apartments, three basement levels with more than 280 car spaces and bicycle storage for tenants, a ground floor cafe and up to eight retail tenancies.
The panel had some questions about the availability of parking in the area and the design of a ''through space'' between Union and George streets.
The development at 109-113 George Street will have frontages at George and Union streets as well as Argus Lane.
After the applicant, Eugene White of Eureka 2 Project 10 Pty Ltd, argued the ''through space'' would be an active road used by visitors, the development was approved with minor amendments.
The application was first lodged in 2009 and the design was chosen through a competition in July last year that was won by BVN Architects.
