Cannabis plants seized in Guildford drug raid

POLICE have seized 36 cannabis plants and 270 grams of dried leaf during a raid at a family home in Guildford yesterday (Monday, May 15).

Officers acting on a community tip-off conducted a search warrant at the home in Harris Street, while the occupants were not at home.

An officer from Holroyd station alleged the plants varied from seedlings to mature plants more than a metre tall growing in a hydroponic set-up.

The property is alleged to be occupied by a family with a child eight-years-old and police said they reported the situation to Family and Community Services.

A 34-year-old man turned himself in to police yesterday afternoon and was charged with enhanced cultivation of cannabis and two possession of cannabis offences.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court on June 6.
