Police have charged a man with falsely reporting an armed robbery in Auburn.
About 3.10pm Saturday, April 28 police allege the 36-year-old man called triple 0 reporting that his fruit shop on Harrow Road, Auburn, had been robbed by two men, one armed with a firearm.
Multiple vehicles attached to Flemington Police including responded to the call, attended the shop, establishing a crime scene, which was examined by specialist officers.
Further cars conducted patrols for the reported offending vehicle.
Following an interview with detectives at the scene, police determined that the allegation of robbery had been a complete fabrication.
The man was issued with a Court Attendance Notice for the offence of false representation resulting in police investigation.
He is expected to appear at Burwood Local Court on Thursday June 14.
