Gangs Squad detectives have arrested two men in relation to a shooting in Merrylands early yesterday.
Just after midnight yesterday, April 23 a number of shots were fired at a block of units on Oxford Street, Merrylands.
Police attended and established a crime scene.
A Highway Patrol vehicle attached to Strike Force Kinnarra and conducting proactive patrols in the area, engaged in a short pursuit with a car. This culminated in a collision between the two vehicles on Edgar Buggy Street, Merrylands.
The occupants of the car ran from the scene, and despite an extensive ground and air search of the area, they were not located.
Detectives attached to Strike Force Kinnarra have been investigating the incident, including forensic examination of the car involved in the pursuit.
Following these inquiries, officers from Strike Force Kinnarra and the Tactical Operations Unit executed a search warrant at a Guildford residence and a crime-scene warrant at a Ryde residence overnight.
A 20-year-old man was arrested at the Guildford address.
The man, an alleged associate of the Hells Angels outlaw motorcycle gang (OMCG), was charged with discharge firearm at building. He was refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court today Tuesday, April 24.
At the Ryde address, police seized a bullet and an amount of a drug believed to be ecstasy. They also seized a car for detailed forensic examination.
A 22-year-old man was arrested at the residence. He was charged with discharge firearm at building, possess prohibited drug and possess ammunition.
Police will allege this man has OMCG links.
State Crime Command's Gangs Squad formed Strike Force Kinnarra on April 17 to investigate recent shootings believed to be linked to a conflict between the Nomads and Hells Angels OMCG.
