Suspicious fire in Granville

Police have appealed to the community for information after a suspicious fire at a business at Granville overnight.

Police said two men approached a real estate agent's office in Bridge Street and smashed a window shortly after 1am.

The men entered the building and left a short time later as the building caught fire.

They were described as having large builds and wearing dark clothing, the two men fled from the premises on foot.

They were seen running towards the intersection of Bridge and Good Streets where they turned north onto Good Street and finally east into Cowper Street.

Emergency services attended a short time later and the blaze was extinguished by fire fighters whilst police from Rosehill Local Area Command established a crime scene.

Detectives attended along with forensic investigators attended and commenced their inquiries.

Police have urged anyone with information about the fire or suspicious activity in the area to come forward and contact Rosehill Local Area Command or Crime Stoppers, 1800 333 000.

Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and a reward of up to $1000 is payable for information which leads to an arrest.
